The Vincible

We Knew We Were Vincible.

The generationally suicidal; we were born long after the warning labels, long after DARE, health classes were created specifically to inform us of the dangers of living.  Prescription drugs and alcohol.  Cigarettes and heroin.  Thousands of dollars spent on videos and posters to educate the youth on the dangers of cigarettes and illegal drugs, yet the illegal drug market still flourishes, Philip Morris still produces a profit.  We are not the 60's generation, addicted to ideas, we are not the 80's generation, dependent on insufflated thrills, we are a generation simply relying on chemical change to temporary adjust our frame of mind.  Rehabilitation is not the key to understanding, maybe a whisper in the wind of a different direction.  We don't speed because we feel like "it'll never happen to me," we speed because we secretly hope for that horrible accident, that beautiful release from worry.  A lack of faith, our generation has recognized the fairy tales that were our forepeople's beliefs.  Our apathy is our acceptance of the inevitable departure from 'normalcy'.
